Amir-Abdollahian exposes efforts to Balkanize Middle East

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with Serbia’s Ambassador to Iran, Dragan Todorovic, on Wednesday in Tehran.

 “There are channeled efforts with cross-regional interventions to Balkanize the region,” said Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Wednesday.

The Iranian diplomat made the remark during his meeting with Serbian Ambassador to Iran, Dragan Todorovic, in Tehran.

The two official exchanged views on the ways to expand bilateral trade relations, economy, and banking, in addition to political and parliamentary ties.

“Specialized commissions of Iran’s parliament are taking the necessary steps to pass the needed regulations to speed up the expansion of interaction between the two countries,” highlighted Mr. Amir-Abdollahian.

Mr. Amir-Abdollahian also referred to next week travel of the head of Iran-Serbia parliamentary friendship group to Serbia as an important step for further cementing the bilateral relations. He also delivered the message of Iranian Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani who has invited his Serbian counterpart to travel to Iran.

“We support the Islamic Republic of Iran in its fight against terrorism and we know assuredly that Iran is not a supporter of terrorists at all but victimized by terrorism,” underlined the Serbian diplomat for his part in this meeting.

Voicing content with the interactions between Iran and Serbia, Mr. Todorovic highlighted that Iran is a significant country with top priority for Serbia to develop foreign relations with.

He also pointed out that disintegration and terrorism are the two agents threatening peace and security in the world.
